I can’t conceive of a greater career for an animal lover than that of a wildlife photographer. Every day, they have the chance to share once-in-a-lifetime moments with Mother Nature and her amazing creatures!
Gren Sowerby is among the lucky ones. The wildlife photographer from the United Kingdom has committed himself to wildlife photography for the last four decades of his life. “I found the perfect job,” Gren said, adding that he enjoys being near wild animals. Last month, though, when in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, he witnessed something absolutely horrifying.
On a safari, a beautiful lion was observed roughly 40-50 feet away from the professional photographer, who was preparing for some spectacular photos. The king of the jungle merely wanted to have some fun with Gren, so he opted to pull some jokes on him.
“I went in to snap a picture when he let out a loud roar – it was the biggest shock of my life,” Sowerby recalled. “He yelled, ‘I’m the King of the Jungle,’ and then he smiled at me like someone winks at you to say, ‘Haha!’”
The photographer was taken aback when he saw the colossal lion yell at him before breaking into a wide, terrifying smile. Gren, of course, stayed put and caught the incredible event, no matter how terrible it was!
“I was overjoyed with the images; I didn’t look at them again until I got home.” I enjoy going on safaris and photographing wild creatures. They’ve grown up with the trip and are accustomed to automobiles and tourists. Capturing the King of the Jungle is always a challenge, and I’m thrilled I was able to get the photos.”
This isn’t the first time a fierce lion has been seen having fun. Earlier this year, a video of a lion hilariously waking up a lioness went popular on social media.
