Despite the absence of the major stars on both teams, the Brooklyn Nets easily defeated the Los Angeles Lakers. While Kevin Durant has been out with an injury for some time, LeBron James and Anthony Davis sat out the game. While Kyrie Irving inspired the Nets to victory, Russell Westbrook was unable to lead the Lakers to triumph.
After the game, Kyrie Irving spoke about his back-and-forth with Patrick Beverley, but he didn’t seem too bothered by it. The Lakers likely knew they would lose with both their big guns out, although recently, losses don’t seem to bother Russell Westbrook too much. In any case, LeBron James seemed far from enthusiastic on the night, something that was evident in the awkward hug he gave Russell Westbrook in the tunnel.

LeBron James seemed to pat Russell Westbrook on the back, but as he did so, he couldn’t even look him in the eye. Normally, it would be expected that he would say some words to his teammate as well, but James seemed fully focused on everything but Russ. And the video is a weird one in general; it’s impossible to gauge if it was done on purpose or if LeBron was just completely spaced out at the time.
NBA Fans Reacted To Clip Of LeBron James Giving Russell Westbrook A Short Hug
When it comes to LeBron James, every move he makes is broken down and analyzed by fans. He is the biggest star in the league still, and as such, people want to know what he’s thinking. And this video led to some wild reactions from NBA fans on Reddit.
“I love how awkward that was.”
“LeBron didn’t even look at him, that’s cold-blooded.”
“When you feel bad for yelling at your kid even though they deserved it.”
“The one I hug is the man, trade him.”
“Body language experts. Get in here!”
“I would hate to play for the Lakers, the amount of scrutiny from fans is unbelievable.”
“Westbrook didn’t seem to embrace the hug either.”
“Why was that so weird???”
“LeBron caught himself from going at Russ there.”
“This is nothing man, y’all need to stop fr.”
Russell Westbrook almost had a triple-double against the Brooklyn Nets, but his efficiency was terrible, shooting just 33% from the floor. While he has been made a bit valuable once again in a bench role, there is no denying that Westbrook is still a bad fit for the Lakers. And even if the hug meant nothing, LeBron James probably wouldn’t mind if the team managed to flip Russ for another good player.
