At this moment, LeBron James simply seems to be breaking new ground every other night. James has been moving up the rankings in a few other areas as well, even though all the attention this season has been on him being the NBA’s all-time leader in points.
Earlier this season, James passed Hakeem Olajuwon to get to 9th all-time in steals, and on Tuesday night against the New York Knicks, he passed both Mark Jackson (10,334) and Steve Nash (10,335) to move to 4th all-time in assists.

LeBron ended the night with 11 assists and now has 10,338 for his career. After the game, he was asked what it meant to him to surpass them and reach the 4th spot.
(starts at 0:56 mark):
“It’s amazing because that’s just what I love to do. Get my guys involved and try to put the ball on time and on target with my guys throughout the course of my career and with another great group (here) that allows me to see the space and see the floor and I’m able to get it to them and try to get it to them with the right type of pass, but they have to make the shots and they have done a great job of that, not only this season but over the course of my career, so it’s pretty cool.””Any time you’re linked with some of the greats. Mark Jackson played here, he was drafted here by the Knicks, so it’s super cool thing. Obviously, we know with Nash, I played against him for many many years and his ability to pass the ball was very uncanny,”
It is an incredible achievement for James to be in the top 5 for both points and assists now. Depending on how much longer he plays, he could perhaps overtake Chris Paul and Jason Kidd as well, although he, for sure, won’t surpass John Stockton.
LeBron James Is Less Than 100 Points Away From Becoming The All-Time Leading Scorer
LeBron scored 28 points against the Knicks, which means he just needs 89 more to surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and become the all-time leading scorer. Kareem stated that he is relieved and excited to pass the torch to James while adding that he has earned it.
LeBron spoke about breaking the record after the game and emphatically said that he is going to do it. He also stated that he isn’t going anywhere and will be in the league for a few more years at least. One can only wonder what that final number is going to look like when he finally decides to walk away.
