The python was about to eat an antelope when the hyena noticed it and responded fast by prodding the snake until it released the prey.
Mike Sutherland documented a hyena and a python squabbling over a ᴋɪʟʟ while on a safari in Bᴏᴛsᴡᴀɴᴀ’s Okavango Delta. Along the way, they came across a lot of baby impalas, some of whom were only a few days or possibly hours old, according to his account. According to Sutherland, a hyena was off in the distance and a sizable herd of antelopes was lazing on the edge of the mudflat.
A python slithered down from a huge gourd tree covered with fruit and hid amid the wilting leaves. The young antelope was promptly caught after passing the location of the python’s resting place. They turned to look in the direction of the antelope call. The hyena did the same.
The python grabbed hold of the antelope’s leg and began to encircle and squeeze it. Hyena saw their interactions. Taking advantage of the circumstance, the monster started to run away. At first, it made an unsuccessful attempt to seize the antelope and drag it away from the serpent. The hyena was trying very diligently to Bɪᴛᴇ the python to break its grip.
The hyena caught both the python and the antelope and carried them approximately 10-15 meters before releasing them. Eventually, the serpent caved in to the hyena’s constant nagging. Once again hissing, the snake moved in the direction of the bushes. They were all intrigued by what had happened, according to Sutherland, as well as feeling a little queasy and confused. It was vital to stay away from nature.
