A photographer named Giulio Zanni traveled to Alaska just to get images of bald eagles. He didn’t anticipate seeing two fully grown adults arguing over prey in midair, though. With their wings wide and their ᴅᴇᴀᴅly talons poised to grasp and claw, the two birds were engaged in battle as they crashed into the sky.
The biggest of the two birds, intending to bring the fish back to its nest on dry land, initiated the ғɪɢʜᴛ by grabbing a fish off the coast of Homer. But the smaller bird had other ideas and had plotted an intercept route. It flew straight into the larger bird, trying to rip the fish from its hands. Then the two clashed in the air, a flurry of beaks, wings, and talons accompanying them.
When Mr. Zanni was nearby on a small boat and had his camera pointed at the sky, he observed the activity occurring above him. The smaller bird realized its ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ was ineffective and broke off, disappearing behind some nearby rocks before he could stop himself from shooting while being entranced by the performance.
Evidently not waiting for any other chancers to show up and try to sᴛᴇᴀʟ its dinner, the successful bird put its victim on the ground and began to gobble it whole. Mr. Zanni claimed that it was well worth the trip to Alaska to take pictures of the wildlife.
