Real Madrid have quite the reputation of signing some of the most highly-rated young talents from Brazilian football and turning them into bona fide superstars in the Spanish capital, under the club’s watchful eye. Both Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo were signed as teenagers and have gone onto become regulars in Los Blancos’ first-team and played a key part in their La Liga and Champions League triumphs last season.
Recently, they made an even more ambitious move. It is believed that Real Madrid agreed a transfer package of upto €72 million for Endrick of Palmeiras. He is just 16 years of age and has only made a handful of appearances at the senior level. But the youngster is considered as the biggest talent to come out of Brazilian football since Neymar.
And now, it looks like Real Madrid have their eyes on another Brazilian wonderkid, who just recently joined FC Zenit.
As reported by UOL, Robert Renan, who has been a highlight of the Brazilian national team in the South American U-20 in Colombia, is in the sights of Real Madrid. Los Blancos have been closely following the defender’s performances.
Real Madrid linked with another Brazilian wonderkid
Renan is just 19 years of age and plays as a centre-back. The youngster has impressed in the South American U-20 Championship.
It must be pointed out that it was just last month that he left Corinthians in order to join FC Zenit. Of course, that is not expected to stop Real Madrid from making a move in the near future, if they are convinced about Renan’s talents.
At this point of time, Real Madrid do have a bit of an aging central defence. Nacho Fernandez is 33 years of age while David Alaba is 30. Rudiger will be turning 30 next month as well. Thus, someone like Renan could be an interesting long-term addition for Los Blancos, if they do make a move for him.
