With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Phase 5 will kick off and another whole series of events will be untangling itself for the final showdown that will mark the end of Phase 6. Now the last time such a big event was to take place, the antagonist had to be of that caliber and Thanos pulled it off perfectly. And now it rests upon Kang the Conqueror’s shoulder played by Jonathan Majors and he intends to portray the character perfectly and set a bar for the upcoming individuals.
Jonathan Majors as Kang The Conqueror
Jonathan Majors Has High Hopes for Kang the Conqueror
Jonathan Majors is the actor who will be taking up the mantle of Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming MCU movie Ant-Man 3 and will be the main antagonist for the whole Phases 5 and 6, unlike the previous phases where multiple villains led to the final scene where Thanos prevailed as the mighty Titan warlord who wiped out half the universe with only a snap. Jonathan Majors’s Kang has been previously introduced in Phase 4 where he was the ‘He Who Remains’ of the TVA, and the current approaching Kang is one of his variants. Jonathan Majors claims that now it is up to him to build the universe back to the level it was at the end of Phase 3 and even go beyond that scenario. He comments,
“Hopefully, what we do with The Kang Dynasty; what we do in the MCU; what we do in these Adonis movies… Hopefully, they go, ‘That is now the pole star. That is what we’re aiming for now’. In the same way, I looked at Denzel [Washington] and Sidney Poitier and Philip Seymour Hoffman and Meryl Streep and Daniel Day-Lewis, and went, ’I’m going there.’”

Jonathan Majors added that with his role as Kang, he aims to reach the level of the ones he admires and multiple Academy Award winners such as Denzel Washington, Sidney Poitier, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep, and Daniel Day-Lewis. Later on, he also says that it was completely unexpected for him to get around the fact that he was chosen by Marvel Studios to portray such an important character in such a big industry.
Jonathan Majors’s Engagement as Kang the Conqueror
Jonathan Majors has a long way to go if he wants to live up to the expectations of the fans and overcome his predecessors in terms of the amount of chaos they create with their acting. The bar has already been set high by Thanos and anything near it will not make the fans go crazy as they did with Thanos, because he was the first. Though Thanos was only hinted into some movies before his big appearance in Ragnarok, Kang the Conqueror is being introduced in the first movie itself and will have much more screen time and will have more effect on the plotline. So there remains a possibility that more variants of Kang can be explored in the timeframe.

Jeff Loveness, the scriptwriter for Ant-Man 3 has claimed in one of the interviews that we will be seeing a lot of Kangs in the upcoming Phases. Loki season 2 will air in mid-2023 and it only makes sense if multiple variants of Kang appear to wreak havoc, as per Majors claimed, his goal for Kang “is to make them as universal and as human as possible”. So up till Avengers: Secret Wars hits the theatres there are multiple possibilities for variants of Kang to appear and Jonathan Majors providing us with A-tier acting after his debut signing with MCU.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will hit theaters on 17 February 2023.
