Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill have both stepped away from their iconic roles as Batman and Superman. The two formed a dynamic pair in the DC Universe. Their duo had been iconic for however long it may have lasted. While Cavill debuted as his character in Man of Steel, Affleck wore his cowl first in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The first time Cavill met his co-star he was highly intimated, thinking about how he was initially under the impression of how fit and built he had been. Upon meeting the actor, this idea of him had completely changed. He suddenly realized that Affleck was much taller than him, almost towering than Cavill.
Henry Cavill Was Shocked To See Ben Affleck For The First Time
When Henry Cavill first met Ben Affleck he was immediately taken aback by how different the two were physically. Henry Cavill is 6 feet and ½ an inch tall whereas Ben Affleck is 6 feet 2 inches tall.

“Like most things in life, you put yourself at a certain level, and I thought I was in good shape going into that film. Then I met Ben Affleck. What struck me first was how funny he was, but man was he ripped as well. I’ve never been the type of guy to get involved in any sort of macho one-upmanship, but I admit I was more than a bit intimidated, and it gave me the desire to push it a bit more, because Ben is really built.”
Seeing the actor, he was completely taken aback by how much taller and bulkier he was than him.
“The guy is huge. I’m puny by comparison. He is much bigger than I expected, this huge presence and vast physicality. I had to step it up. When you see this mountain of a man walking around set, you think, ‘I’ve got to get to the gym… yesterday.’”
The two had an onset rivalry even though it was never addressed openly by them. Cavill was immediately determined to improve himself physically.
Ben Affleck Was Intimidated By Henry Cavill As Well
Ben Affleck admitted to having been intimidated by Henry Cavill when he first saw the actor in Man of Steel. He was immediately inspired by him and wanted to physically transform himself just like Cavill.

“I was like, ‘Wow, I got to look like that? That’s going to be a lot of work. I’m not sure I can be in quite that good of a shape.’ But Henry definitely set a high bar. But he has to be at that high bar because he’s playing an alien. I figured I have a lower bar to reach, I’m just playing a man.”
He worked so hard that perhaps he even surpassed Cavill, setting the exact same impression. Now that both have bus farewell to their characters, their onset rivalry may take some time to be explored yet again.
