Liverpool lost Sadio Mané to Bayern Munich last summer but he has been speaking about a couple of his former teammates at Anfield during a TikTok Q&A.
Former Liverpool star Sadio Mané says that one of his ex-teammates at Anfield is the best finisher that he has played alongside in his career to date.
He has played with some exceptional players including Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, of course, and now represents Bayern Munich, but selected another surprise star when asked by 11teamsports on TikTok.
Mané’s answer was Divock Origi, the Belgian forward who moved to AC Milan at the end of last season. The pair spent six years together at Liverpool before both departed at the same time.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was also chosen as the ‘best leader’ that Mané has worked with, while the rest of his answers mainly involved Bayern Munich players.
Origi has only scored twice for Milan so far in his 21 appearances for the Serie A side, with both of those strikes coming in the league for Stefano Pioli’s side.
He only scored 41 times for Liverpool but the majority of those, particularly in the later years, were huge goals that came in the biggest moments including the Champions League final.
While it was a surprise choice from Mané in some respects, Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders also made similar comments in 2021.
“Divock is one of the world’s best finishers — and we’ve worked with quite a few, at different clubs!” Lijnders said during a press conference. “He’s an absolute world-class finisher, it’s just to get him in these positions, of course.”
