Conor McGregor, a well-known UFC fighter, can now breathe a sigh of relief as the assault charges against him related to an alleged incident in Ibiza have been dropped. This news follows the withdrawal of a lawsuit filed by Samantha Murphy, a 40-year-old Irish woman who had previously accused McGregor of assaulting her. Although specific details surrounding the case are unclear, McGregor can now be pleased with the outcome.
Conor McGregor celebrated his 34th birthday on a yacht in Ibiza, Spain in July 2022. “The Notorious” was still taking time off due to his leg injury and had not competed in over a year. McGregor had also shared images and videos of the said party on his social media as well.
According to Samantha Murphy’s original grievance, McGregor allegedly assaulted her while on the yacht. However, she escaped the yacht but sustained injuries to her person. Now, a month after the proceedings had begun, the alleged victim has dropped all charges.
Her solicitor Alvaro Blasco revealed Murphy had filed for a notice of discontinuance, on Monday, to cease proceedings.

In her original account of the incident, Murphy claimed that McGregor himself had invited her onto the yacht. She ran into the MMA star during his party, after which he invited her along with a group of others onto his yacht. However, she stated McGregor’s demeanor changed later and that the Irishman allegedly began assaulting her.
Murphy also claimed that she suffered a broken arm during the alleged incident and added that she jumped off the yacht into the water to save herself. In addition to the broken arm, she claimed to have sustained extensive physical bruising as well.
She also stated that she had to get onboard another boat; before seeking medical attention for her injuries at a hospital. She officially initiated proceedings against McGregor when she filed the civil lawsuit against the UFC star last month.
McGregor was due for a hearing regarding an application to preserve video evidence in CCTV cameras and phones related to the alleged incidents in The High Court. In light of the recent withdrawal of the case, the hearing will not go forward as planned.
