During one of their routine hobby sessions, a group of amateur archaeologists stumbled upon a remarkable discovery: a haul worth £5 million.
Adam Staples, 43 and Lisa Grace, 42, came across this discovery back in early 2019 as they were vacationing off in Chew Valley, using their metal detectors as they had for the past 16 years or so.
What they came across however completely changed their lives. They were just doing what they were doing as per usual when they spotted a haul of over 2,528 silver coins that all depicted the aftermath of the Norman invasion from the ancient past.
Mr. Staples stated that this was not planned whatsoever, but after they came across it they were very thorough about it, staying there for many hours to make sure that they collected every last one of the coins.
They even endured a massive thunder and rainstorm, all to make sure that nobody else stole the coins from them.
Afterward, they took them to the British Museum where they found out that the coins dated back to 1066. On these coins, the story of the battle between the defeated King Harold II and the triumphant conqueror William I was identified.
This story was covered on multiple occasions on TV so far, and according to the two, this discovery will actually help them rise above their social level and actually afford a new property and support their hobby more so than ever before.
