Lionel Messi‘s close friend Sergio Aguero revealed that the World Cup winner may leave PSG this summer and return to Argentina.
There is much speculation about where Messi will be playing his football next season, with his PSG contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
The French giants are desperate to keep the Argentinian in Paris, but face competition from Messi’s former club Barcelona, as well as MLS side Inter Miami, who are keen to bring him to the United States.
However, it now appears there’s another club in the race, with the 35-year-old’s first club Newell’s Old Boys a possibility – according to Aguero.
In an interview with UOL, the former Manchester City striker claimed: ‘He is seriously considering the possibility of playing for Newell’s.’

The World Cup winner spent five years in the academy at Newell’s, and was also a ball boy for the club, before was snapped up by Barcelona and joined their famed La Masia academy.
However, Aguero’s reveal was quickly shot down by former Liverpool man Maxi Rodriguez, who added: ‘Kun is Kun. He can’t keep quiet. We will see.
‘It is hard to talk about this because then a giant ball of rumours is made. Let’s wait and see what happens. We will not get ahead of the facts.’
Messi is rumoured to be playing in a testimonial for Rodriguez later this year, which will celebrate the three spells the former Argentina international had with this squad.
Reports in Argentina have suggested that the appearance could be seen as a trial as they try and bring Messi back to his homeland, once his contract in France expires.

Aguero and Messi have been close pals for two decades and roomed together before the World Cup Final in December
Aguero and Messi have been close friends for nearly two decades, and regularly roomed together when the pair were on international duty together.
During last winter’s World Cup, the now retired Aguero once again shared a room with Messi before the tournament’s final and then could be seen holding the Argentina skipper on his shoulders after the country’s triumph over France.
The PSG star has been in frightening form for the French side this season, after struggling to find his feet during his first season in Ligue 1.
He’s netted 16 goals and contributed 14 assists in his 27 appearances for the club, with Christophe Galtier’s men currently top of the table, five points ahead of second placed Marseille.
