‘This was never discussed or thought about’: Mohamed Salah’s agent dismisses reports the Liverpool star could leave Anfield if the Reds fail to qualify for the Champions League as ‘NONSENSE’

Mohamed Salah’s agent has dismissed claims the Liverpool star could leave Anfield if the Reds fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The Egyptian forward, 30, agreed to remain at Anfield until June 2025 after signing the biggest deal in the club’s history last summer.

Liverpool have struggled this season and are nine points behind the top four, with Salah also enduring a disappointing campaign to date.

And Spanish football news outlet Fichajes said Salah would be prepared to leave if Liverpool didn’t achieve a top-four finish.

In a tweet on Monday morning, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa called out the rumour as ‘nonsense’.

He tweeted: ‘Nonsense. This was never discussed or thought about. Not qualifying to the Champions League hasn’t even crossed our minds.’

Their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League as this season’s winners have been dashed after they were thrashed 5-2 by Real Madrid, their worst European home defeat in their history.

Salah scored his 42nd goal for the Reds in the Champions League – which saw him break Steven Gerrard‘s record – in the crushing defeat.

Klopp’s side were held to a goalless draw at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace at the weekend with the stalemate denting their pursuit of the top four.

Liverpool next host Wolves on Wednesday and Manchester United on Sunday.

With Newcastle away to Manchester City and Tottenham at Wolves, if Liverpool capitalise, they could still be just three points off the top four come the end of the weekend.
