The Golden State Warriors are having one of the worst seasons a defending champion has ever had while playing in away games with a 7-25 record this season.
Prior to their game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Ernie Johnson spoke to Stephen Curry about the Warriors’ road struggles, something Curry wasn’t too eager to talk about,

“I wish I could because then it wouldn’t be 7 or whatever, I blocked out the second number. We’ve had a revolving door of rotations and availability. We didn’t get off to a good start and then we went winless on our first 9. It’s just been a season where we haven’t been able to put together 48 minutes defensively and offensively on the road.”
Curry also explained that teams gear up for games against the Warriors due to their status as incumbent champions. With the record falling to 7-26 against the Grizzlies tonight, the Warriors may be in serious trouble.
What’s Going Wrong On The Road?
The Golden State Warriors struggle with locking in and giving the same effort they give at home when they’re on the road. The reason behind this isn’t obvious but it could just be a veteran team who tends to prioritize putting on a show for their fans. Those habits have gotten to a point that the Warriors seem unable to lock in and pull off wins on the road.
With the way the West playoff race is shaping up, every win makes a difference. Similarly, losing 26 games away from home as the defending champions won’t make it easy for anyone to believe the Warriors have what it takes to defend their title if they even manage to qualify for the playoffs.
They will most likely qualify for the postseason, but there’s an outside chance that they lose in the play-in, which would be a disaster for the franchise.
