Little ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ Before making their public appearance, Zoe and Olivia spend 29 weeks together inside the ᴡᴏᴍʙ. To prevent one twin from unintentionally suffocating the other, they were forced to spend a month apart for the first time despite never having to be apart before.
It took physicians 27 days to decide that the ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ were strong enough to be reunited, making the tragic moment when Zoe reached out to hug her sister all the more poignant.
We waited so long for the girls to meet, so when the day finally came, we couldn’t believe it, said Ann, 29, from Aᴜsᴛʀᴀʟɪᴀ. Our first ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ’ embrace came after exactly 27 days, and it exceeded our expectations.
After Olivia was positioned on top of me, Zoe took her turn and extended her left arm to embrace her sister. My eyes started to well up with tears; it was a moment I’ll never forget.
Due to their darling Bᴀʙɪᴇꜱ’ shared amniotic sac, Mother Ann Le’s pregnancy was high-ʀɪsᴋ. This particular form of multiple pregnancies, known as unilateral monoamniotic ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ, has a 50% survival rate for the ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ at 26 weeks.
Ann, from Melbourne, Aᴜsᴛʀᴀʟɪᴀ, had to undergo an ultrasound every two weeks starting at 10 weeks of pregnancy in order to track the development of the girls.
Ann said: Not long after, Olivia, who was sobbing, was removed. The doctor had to work for a while to free Zoe because she was crouching when she arrived. We were very concerned since she made no noise or movement. Midwives swiftly transported both girls to the pediatric ward for inspection.
In a matter of a month, Ann experienced the eagerly awaited cuddles. A stunning moment is shared on Instagram by a proud mother.
Ann now wants to have her daughters home by the middle of April.
Although it was extremely taxing for my husband and I, their ᴏᴅᴅs of survival have increased to over 95% now that they have been in the hospital for more than a month, she said.
