Right now, Dwayne Johnson isn’t having a great time. The actor had great expectations for Black Adam, but it underwhelmed at the box office, which led to the actor’s termination from DC. To make things worse, he left the Fast and Furious franchise due to his alleged animosity with Vin Diesel. Now, all he has left is the Jumanji movie series. But it appears that he will have to say farewell to that as well because Kevin Hart intends to pursue other interests.
Kevin Hart Gives An Update On Jumanji 4
Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson in the Jumanji franchise
The 1995 movie Jumanji, starring the late Robin Williams, received a reboot/sequel in 2017 with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. A straight sequel to the 2017 film, Jumanji: The Next Level, was released in 2019. It got overwhelmingly positive reviews, which made many people wonder if there would be another movie in the series starring Dwayne Johnson and other actors. On the red carpet for the 2023 Academy Awards, Kevin Hart explained that there are some plans for Jumanji 4 in the works.

Hart stated in a Variety interview:
It will shortly be necessary for us to do it. The day before yesterday, I spoke with him. We are currently moving forward with some major concepts. Of course, we’re referring to a different “Jumanji.” That was a discussion. We’re still working out the details of what would or might serve as the concluding chapter of He and I. We believe that in order to end our partnership and not just leave it unfinished, such as by declaring this to be our final film, something significant is required.
The animals from Jumanji: The Next Level venture out into the actual world in the post-credits scene. As a result, the story of Jumanji 4 will presumably take place both on Earth and in the video game. It would have a storyline similar to the first Robin Williams movie. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black are all anticipated to make a comeback in the fourth film.

Variety questioned Kevin Hart on the 2023 Oscars red carpet about any future plans he has with Dwayne Johnson. The actor replied that the two could collaborate on another big project soon. As per Hart:
“We’re talking about it. It could be another franchise. It could be something big. but [we’re] trying to figure out what that thing is. That’s the focus point right now.”

So even though the Jumanji franchise could come to an end soon after Jumanji 4, Hart and Johnson’s partnership could continue. Considering the fact that The Rock doesn’t have any big franchises to bank on anymore, building a new one from the ground up would be a good idea. However, it doesn’t mean that Johnson doesn’t have anything in the works. The star is currently working on Red One, which he also allegedly hopes to build into a franchise.
Red One is scheduled for a 2023 Christmas release on Amazon Prime Video.
