There are many great players in the NBA right now, but even among them, not many are better than Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid.
The three international superstars have been dominating the league now for half a decade or so. But what if Jokic, Giannis, and Embiid were included in a 3-team blockbuster trade between the Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Philadelphia 76ers?
Theoretically, each team will be getting an MVP candidate, so no team is downgrading per se. But here’s what NBA fans on Twitter thought about the hypothetical trade featuring Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid.
Comments have been edited for clarification:
“Bucks say no, Nuggets say no, 76ers say YES,” a fan tweeted.
“Everyone but Philly, y’all lying if y’all want Embiid over Giannis,” another fan tweeted.
“I’d hope no one. These are the three best players on the planet, and it’s not a debate. All their rosters were constructed to play around their strengths. Shifting around the best in the game without even having a definitive ranking for the players involved makes no sense,” a fan provided a detailed take.
“Bucks because they get the worst player and give up the best player,” another fan tweeted against the Bucks trading away Giannis.
“Bucks and Nuggets say no. Good chance Philly says yes,” a fan shared his opinion.
Most fans believe that only the Philadelphia 76ers would agree to this hypothetical trade. Even though they have Joel Embiid on the roster, who is one of the top players in the league, Embiid is yet to show the same dominance in the postseason.
On the other hand, getting Giannis Antetokounmpo in return, who is a 2x NBA MVP and 1x NBA champion, will surely improve the roster.
Who Will Win The 2022-23 NBA MVP?
The 2022-23 NBA MVP is a 3-way race between Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. All three players have been putting up monster numbers this season while leading their respective teams to great records.
Keeping that in mind, we recently wrote an in-depth analysis of who should win the 2022-23 NBA MVP award. According to us, Joel Embiid currently has the edge over Jokic and Antetokounmpo right now.
Looking at Embiid’s numbers, he is averaging a stunning 33.5 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.1 SPG, and 1.7 BPG while shooting at 54.6% from the field and 35.5% from deep.
It seems like Embiid is closer than ever to winning the first MVP award of his career after falling behind Jokic in back-to-back seasons.
