While BLACKPINK are global superstars, the members continue to remind fans that they are proud of their heritage. Recently, Jisoo has gained praise for incorporating and promoting Korean culture through her activities.

Since debuting, despite criticisms of losing their culture, the BLACKPINK members have always embraced its heritage, whether it’s Korea’s past or Lisa embracing her Thai upbringing.
Jisoo has even gone on television and revealed that they want to promote Korean culture through their music videos.

It seems like Jisoo is continuing this through her solo work. While it seems like BLINKs have been waiting forever, Jisoo is finally set to make her solo debut with her album ME.

After the release of her teasers, Jisoo is being praised for incorporating and promoting Korean culture.
In some of the concept photos, netizens noticed that next to the title’s name, the intricate design can be seen as the letter “f,” the hangul for flower “꽃,” and also a literal flower.

One of the most obvious influences from Korean culture was Jisoo’s fashion. One of the hairpins that Jisoo was wearing is called a “Binyeo,” which was worn in the Joseon Dynasty and reflected someone’s status and wealth.

Aside from the more obvious look Jisoo has that channels Korean influences, netizens also noticed more about the teaser. While the patterns and floral decorations in the shots seemingly replicate traditional artwork…
Netizens couldn’t help but notice the instruments used in the teaser. In both visual teasers, the music used made many believe that the song would use traditional Korean instruments to create a sound that wouldn’t have seemed out of place in the Joseon Era.
Yet, it isn’t the first time Jisoo and the members have been praised for incorporating Korean culture into her music and concepts.
In the past, BLACKPINK has been no stranger to promoting Korean culture with their comebacks. In 2020, after the release of the track “How You Like That,” the members were praised for their modern take on the traditional hanbok outfit.

Even last year, ahead of BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” release, in the teaser video, one of the first scenes shows some hand playing an instrument of some sort. It was revealed to be Jisoo and, after research, the group’s oldest member was playing a geomungo.
The geomungo is a traditional Korean played by either being plucked zither with bridges and frets.
Geomungo is a representative stringed instrument made in Goguryeo before the 5th century. The instrument is said to have a deep, muscular, rhythmic, and melodic sound when played.

After netizens realized the small details of everything Jisoo does, they couldn’t stop praising the idol’s constant desire to showcase her Korean pride.

With not long before Jisoo’s debut solo is released, netizens can’t wait to see what the idol has in store, with many hoping the Korean influences are present in the video itself.
