Anne added that she initially tried to combine some boozy nights with mothering but she found the hangovers too much to take.
‘I tried not to… but it was just undeniable in the end. Being with him, the time I have with him is really precious,’ she said of her son.
Big plans: Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday the actress explained she’ll cut back on booze until her son is grown in order to savor her ‘precious’ time with him.
‘And I do leave a lot for work and I found my time with was getting impacted, not necessary by the drinking, as I never went out of control around him. But I hate to say it as you get older the hangovers get really bad.’
‘I had to make a choice and I chose mornings. Isn’t that annoying? Isn’t that horrible? I’m really irritated by how well it’s going.’
But while the Oscar-winner is living the booze-free life now, when Jonathan, who she shares with husband Adam Shulman, is in college, she has big plans to make up for lost time.
Future: ‘The plan is, I’m only going to do it for the time, I’m going to raise a proper, good human being, get him off to college then move to a vineyard,; declared Anne
‘The plan is, I’m only going to do it for the time, I’m going to raise a proper, good human being, get him off to college then move to a vineyard and spend the back half of my life completely sloshed, happy, sun-drenched, that’s the plan!’ she laughed.
The Hollywood star, who spoke about her new film The Hustle, also admitted her son has early signs of being a performer and following in her and her actress mother’s footsteps.
‘I think he’s closer to my mum than I am,’ Anne mused of Jonathan’s personality. ‘I loved acting but I was very nervous… my son’s got that personality, my mum had that just stand and sing to everybody.’
