Al-Nassr have reportedly parted ways with head coach Rudi Garcia after holding ‘secret talks’ with Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo is said to have expressed his dissatisfaction with Garcia’s approach, leading club officials to axe the three-time French manager of the year.
The 39-year-old joined the Saudi club in December 2022, putting pen to paper on a two-year contract worth a reported £175million per year – the highest wage ever received by a football player. Ronaldo also received a whopping £85million signing-on fee to sweeten the deal.
Reports from Diario AS and the Mirror have built on stories released by the Saudi press that Ronaldo has become frustrated with Garcia. Earlier this month it was claimed that he had held ‘secret talks’ with club executives about Garcia.
And now both publications claim Al-Nassr chiefs have sided with Ronaldo and have let Garcia go. This comes after Ronaldo’s outburst against Al-Feiha on Sunday.
Despite their best efforts Al-Nassr were unable to break down their stubborn foes and were only able to scrape a point in a frustrating 0-0 Saudi Pro League draw. Following the final whistle, Ronaldo was caught on camera exchanging verbal jabs with Al-Feiha’s Ali Al-Zaqaan, as he alleged timewasting. “You don’t want to play,” shouted the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
The football legend then proceeded to storm off down the tunnel in anger.

Al-Nassr are yet to officially confirm whether Garcia has been sacked at this time. Although he does find himself under a great deal of pressure after dropping points to Al-Feiha, Al-Fateh and Al-Ittihad in recent weeks.
Al-Nassr find themselves placed second in the national league, three points behind Al-Ittihad.
