It’s been a decade since their fateful meeting on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith.
Now Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are preparing to reunite on the big screen in new drama By The Sea.
In the first pictures to emerge of the film’s stunning location, production crews can clearly be seen building a huge set on the rocky coast of Gozo, an island off Malta with a population of 31,000.

Preparation: Members of the production crew have been spotted building the set ahead of the stars’ arrival later this month
With shooting set to start on 18 August, dozens of workers have been spotted hurrying around the site in preparation for the leading stars.
The picturesque coastline at Mgarr ix-Xini bay offers the superstar couple the perfect spot to film in private.
They have paid the owners of a local restaurant to close up shop for three months so they have unrestricted access to the area’s pebble beach.
Meanwhile, local authorities are adamant that the film will boost tourism in the area after the film is released.
‘The economic impact of the movie production will be providing Gozo with a strong economic injection for both the island and its residents. The economic impact is set to generate millions.
‘International companies are investing millions in the Maltese islands which will lead to the creation of hundreds of jobs.

But this is only possible thanks to the public’s cooperation and understanding of the need to close Mgarr ix-Xini Bay during the filming of the movie.’
The rugged coastline and crystal-clear waters will provide an excellent backdrop for the movie, which Angelina has written, as well directing and starring in.
Described as an ‘intimate character-driven drama’, the movie will see the stars – who are engaged in real life and are parents to six children – get married on screen.
Although the Oscar winner is keeping details of the storyline tightly under wraps, she has revealed that it will allow her and her partner to focus on their craft.
She said: ‘It’s not a big movie, it’s not an action movie.
Dream team: Angelina will direct and star in the project, which she has also penned. Details of the storyline are being kept under wraps, but the Oscar winner has revealed it’s a ‘very experimental, independent-type film’
Reunion: By The Sea will mark the first time the couple has acted alongside each other since they fell in love on the set of 2005’s Mr and Mrs Smith
‘It’s the kind of movie we love but aren’t often cast in. It’s a very experimental, independent-type film where we get to be actors together and be really raw, open, try things.’
It will be Angelina and Brad’s first onscreen reunion since 2005’s Mr and Mrs Smith, the film in which they fell in love.
Although the Fight Club star was married to Jennifer Aniston while shooting took place, the pair have always denied cheating allegations.
However, they have both admitted to falling for each other while they played married assassins in the blockbuster.
Speaking in 2008, Brad revealed the movie was among his favourites, explaining: ‘Because you know… six kids. Because I fell in love.’
The couple are expected to take their brood – Shiloh, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Knox and Vivienne – along for the three-month shoot, scheduled to end in the middle of November.
