Selena Gomez is hanging up her dancing shoes — for the time being.
The 21-year-old pop star, who was set to tour in Asia and Australia early in the new year, has canceled her shows.
“My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them,” Gomez said in a release on Thursday.
“But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me.”
The songstress kicked off the U.S leg of her “Stars Dance” tour in August and most recently has been a performer for the Jingle Ball holiday concert series.

The Dec. 6 show at Los Angeles’ Staple Center turned into a controversial one for the brunette beauty as she cursed and stormed off stage after sound problems.
Gomez dropped the F-bomb in her moment of frustration and told the crowd, “Sorry, the sound isn’t working.”
“Are you guys having a good night? I promise, a lot cooler people are gonna come out tonight.”
Sources close to the former Disney starlet told E! News that Gomez’s choice to cancel the shows is not a cause for concern.

“Selena is OK. She just realized it was time to take a break for herself. She’s been working nonstop for six years. She hit a wall. She wants to spend time with her family, especially for the holidays,” the source told the site.
The “Come & Get it” singer was spotted on Thursday outside a friend’s home in Los Angeles looking somber after making this tough decision.
“She doesn’t like to say no, but she just reached a point where she needs a minute. She is not having a breakdown,” the insider continued.
“She wants to be the healthiest that she can be and this means taking a little break. But she is fine.
