The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers hold the record for the most NBA championships won, with 17 each.
As you may know by now, the Celtics won those 17 titles in 22 trips to the NBA Finals, whereas the Lakers had to reach that stage a league-high 32 times.
The Golden State Warriors rank third in that regard, winning six titles in 12 NBA Finals appearances.
Notably, the next in line isn’t even a franchise, as LeBron James actually ranks fourth in NBA history with ten trips to the NBA Finals.
To put it in context, James has been in the league for 20 seasons, so he’s made it to the NBA Finals in half of the seasons he’s been a professional basketball player.
That means he’s more likely to make the NBA Finals than Stephen Curry is to hit a three-pointer (42.8% three-point shooter).
Of course, his 4-6 record isn’t that impressive, and it’ll most likely always be the lone stain on his otherwise flawless résumé.
But we’re talking about a player who’s made it to the biggest stage of the game more times than 26 NBA franchises, and that’s just insane.
So, even those who aren’t a fan of LeBron have to tip their hats off to him for this unmatched accomplishment, as it’s just unlikely that any other player will ever make it to 8 straight NBA Finals again as he did from 2011-18.
