Aussie heart-throb Chris Hemsworth — with surfboard tucked under his bulging right bicep — has taken his young family to Rottnest in the latest leg of his WA holiday adventure.
After a week of surfing and relaxing in $220-a-night hard-deck safari tents at Red Bluff, 120km north of Carnarvon, Hemsworth and his Hollywood mate Matt Damon flew back to Perth today.
After a dash to Crown Towers, Hemsworth, his wife Elsa Pataky and their three children took a helicopter ride to a boat moored in one of the Rottnest’s northern bays.
The Hemsworth family set off on their trip.
Damon, who had been due to leave WA on Monday but had delayed his departure, may have returned to the Eastern States this afternoon, perhaps to NSW’s Byron Bay where he and Hemsworth have rented a house.
Hemsworth and Damon posed for selfies and chatted to locals when they arrived at Carnarvon airport today.
Resident Connie Fletcher said the town was “absolutely buzzing” at the presence of the two A-listers.
“It is great for the town, just unbelievable two Hollywood stars have been in our little terminal,” she said. “They called in there on the way out to Red Bluff last week, did all their food shopping at IGA, called in the tackle-shop for tackle.
“They have really supported the town which is brilliant. I have been here all my life and we have never had A-listers here.”
Ms Fletcher said she hoped the visit would help put Carnarvon on the tourism map.
Outside Crown Towers, Alkimos resident Ken Kirke was lucky enough to spot Hemsworth and his family board the helicopter for Rottnest.
“My wife and I were just walking our dogs and we heard a guy talking on the phone about Chris Hemsworth,” he said. “I have only ever seen local celebrities before so it was pretty lucky.”
It is not known how long Hemsworth and his family will stay on Rottnest, although the amount of luggage loaded on the helicopter would suggest a relatively short visit … perhaps until he secures that Quokka selfie!
