Kevin Hart is disrupting the fast food space with his popular plant-based restaurant chain Hart House.
The venture is near and dear to the comedian as he is on a mission to provide healthier food options that aren’t accompanied by a costly price tag. It is especially important when considering Hart’s roots in North Philadelphia, PA, where he was raised near 15th and Erie. For his restaurants, he seeks out the healthier choices that are often unavailable to those in areas like those who are underserved.
“The whole mission of Hart House is to bring affordable quality plant-based food to everyone,” Hart told AfroTech in an exclusive interview via email. “We love how our Westchester location is equidistant from the community in Marina Del Rey, as well as our friends in Inglewood! Monrovia for example is incredibly underserved in terms of plant-based offerings. We want to ensure we are bringing Hart House to communities that need more food options.”
As AfroTech previously told you, Hart House has an array of menu items such as “burg’rs,” “chick’n” sandwiches, salads, tenders, fries, tots, and milkshakes. In addition, the offerings are made without antibiotics, artificial colors, hormones, preservatives, and high-fructose corn syrup, which are often found at traditional fast-food restaurants.
“Hart House serves plant-forward food that’s a better alternative than your average fast food chain and tastes unbelievable while still being affordable,” Hart said.
What’s more, Hart’s vision is expanding with the promise of a third restaurant set to open May 23 in Hollywood at 6800 Sunset Boulevard, according to information provided to AfroTech. This will become the chain’s first restaurant with a drive-thru.
Over the weekend, Hart hosted an exclusive first look, welcoming attendees including TikTok food critic Keith Lee to celebrate the chain’s expansion.
Prior to the private event, Lee had also shared a food review, with the promise to remain honest. He rated the deluxe hot and crispy “chick’n” sandwich a 9.3/10
“So grateful to have a @Keith Lee review,” Hart commented on TikTok.
Hart will soon be adding a fourth location, opening near the University of Southern California campus at 3726 S. Figueroa St.
We have a sneak preview of the of the interior and large outdoor patio that will feature a fire pit and table games.
The growth of Hart’s quick-service restaurant is proof that he is positioned for continued success.
“The best lesson I have learned thus far is to surround yourself with the experts in the field and build a strong foundation – anything that comes after will have less of a chance of failure,” Hart expressed to AfroTech. “There are so many aspects of this business that I am still learning, but I know that I have assembled the best team in the industry and our future is bright, and we are so excited about what lies ahead for Hart House.”
Moreover, Hart House is a permanent venture within Hart’s portfolio that he hopes will one day make him a billionaire by the age of 45, as AfroTech previously mentioned.
“Hart House is now part of my ecosystem, a sector that I am very proud of,” Hart said to AfroTech. “Together with the rest of my companies, we are all striving to hit the Billionaire benchmark together and seeking out synergistic opportunities where the right hand can now serve the left and vice versa.”
