When Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, and Tom Holland came together in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the theater went bonkers. It was unexpected and yet fans were praying for it. However, about a decade back when The Avengers first premiered in 2012, it was Garfield who wanted his Spider-Man to enter the MCU.
Back then, Andrew Garfield had stated how much he loved the first Avengers movie and how badly he was trying to join the MCU. Also, before Holland wore the costume, there were rumors about Garfield joining the MCU. However, the actor thought that his Spider-Man won’t get along with the father of the MCU.
Andrew Garfield Was Certain That His Spider-Man Wouldn’t Like MCU’s Father

In a 2022 interview with GQ, Andrew Garfield stated his thoughts about being in the MCU. He also revealed that his friendly neighborhood Spider-Man who came from a humble background wouldn’t get along with the hero who started it all- Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. The Hacksaw Ridge actor stated:
“I definitely think (my) Spider-Man would be pretty suspect of MCU Iron Man. I think he would be a little turned off by the excess, the billionaire, trillionaire status of Iron Man. I think it would rub my version of Spider-Man the wrong way. But maybe there could be some influence there. Maybe my Peter Parker could wake Tony Stark up to his own egoic drives a little bit. We’ll never know. We’ll literally never know.”

Iron Man and Spider-Man
In the MCU, Holland’s Spider-Man was pretty much mentored and helped all the way by Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. Also, for a long time, the MCU’s webbed hero was jokingly referred to as Iron Lad by online fans because of how dependent he was on Stark for almost everything.
But things are different now. Even if Garfield tried, his hero wouldn’t be able to meet Iron Man. After all, not only did Tony Stark sacrifice himself in Avengers: Endgame, but there has also been no official confirmation regarding his MCU return. However, there’s a lot of speculation that the two will be in Avengers: Secret Wars.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) were the only two films where Andrew Garfield appeared as the swinging superhero. When he saw The Avengers, he was mesmerized and wanted to join the MCU. He also revealed that he was jealous because he couldn’t do so. In an interview with Vulture, he said:
“I saw it (The Avengers), and I was blown away. And I’m going to see it again this weekend. I have no problem adding to the amount of money it’s making. Joss Whedon is a genius, and it’s an incredible cast. I was very, very jealous, and I wanted to jump on the screen and play with them. It killed me that I wasn’t in it, but I understand why, and I’m not insulted.”

At the 2013 Comic Con, the Mainstream star again stated he would love to join the Avengers. He said, “I’d like to see him (his Spider-Man) with the Avengers. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Just sayin.” Even though his Spidey couldn’t make it on the team, he was happy that the MCU had finally brought out their Spider-Man. In an interview with Uproxx, he said, “I’ve been petitioning to hook up with Marvel since the beginning, so I’m really glad they’re finally doing it.” It now remains to be seen if the actor joins the MCU again as his Spider-Man in some other project.
