This custom-built 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle is one the most incredible and the wildest restomods we have seen so far.
There are tons of cool Chevrolet Chevelle restomods out there. But not many come close to matching the savagery of RestoMods’ latest build. At first look, this 1969 Chevelle might come off as just a handsomely restored example of the popular 60s muscle car. But behind those pretty LED headlights, it hides a supercharged 427 ci V8 that produces 1000 horsepower. It took the Restomods crew two years to build it up from scratch. They have left no stone unturned in making it the most extreme Chevelle by loading it with all manner of aftermarket options.
Besides the wild supercharged V8 under its hood, this Chevy gets a bunch of other high-performance parts too. Restomods have just shared a video detailing everything about this epic build on their YouTube channel. As you’ll see, this Chevelle has the complete kit to put a modern muscle car, such as the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, on notice. Let’s take a closer look!
This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Is The Ultimate Sleeper Muscle Car
The crew has built this 69′ Chevelle entirely in-house, and there are a lot of interesting little details on it. They got fortunate with the donor car for this project, as it was one of the most pristine examples of this muscle car. It had its original color, which was still in good shape. And it had done only 50,000 miles. It was completely rust-free when they stripped the car to the bare metal. After going through hundreds of options for the paint scheme for this Chevelle, the crew finally decided to go for a clean look and picked the silver color out of Porsche’s catalog.
This Chevelle’s silver paint, aluminum trim, and chrome parts give it a neat look. The overall theme is pretty understated and gives off the perfect sleeper car vibes. Since the donor car was in excellent shape, all the sheet metal on this Chevelle is original. The team at Restomods didn’t even have to replace the floors, as there was no rust anywhere. The only body panel that’s not original is the new hood with the giant cowl.
Like the sheet metal panels on this 1969 Chevelle, all the other exterior parts are also original. Except for the new LED headlights, the entire front of the car uses restored parts of the donor car. It still has the original Chevy badge from 1969. The rear is all original too, save for the updated taillights. To keep the look clean, the crew has removed all the badges and insignia from the body panels. What’s cool about this build is that the team didn’t go overboard by adding a lot of modern stuff. That helps this Chevelle get that perfect restomod look.
Park this next to a 2023 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, and most of the muscle car fans will tilt toward the Chevelle. Mind you; the Challenger looks pretty darn awesome. But it’s hard to beat the classic shape of a 60s-era muscle car, especially with such a brilliant outtake.
The Custom-Built Interior Of This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Is Simply Epic
The interior of this Chevelle runs a similar theme as its exterior. There are some serious upgrades inside the cabin too. All the trim pieces, like the dashboard and the door panels, are custom-built out of fiberglass. The crew has put a lot of thought into picking the right aftermarket parts for the interior. The seats come from Sparco and have a similar design with a carbon fiber back to what you get in a Lamborghini. The steering wheel comes from SPARC Industries and has a custom center cap with the Restomods logo. The theme here is all-black, with white stitching on all the trim pieces, which looks pretty cool.
Like the exterior, this Chevelle has a lot of brushed aluminum bits inside the cabin too. The entire dash is redone and now gets a fresh set of aftermarket gauges from Autometer American Muscle and an air conditioning system from Vintage Air. There is also a Bluetooth stereo with 4-speakers and an amplifier. Another cool feature of this Chevelle restomod is its Ridetech stainless steel roll cage. It ties the body and the frame of the car together so that it doubles up the overall structural rigidity of the vehicle.
This 1969 Chevelle Restomod Is Ready To Take On The Dodge Challenger Hellcat
There are a lot of original bits on this Chevelle. But that changes the moment you open its hood. Underneath is a Blueprint LS style 427 Supercharged V8 engine with 850 horsepower in its stock configuration. But the folks at Restomods have put in a tonne of upgrades on it. Besides the Magnussen supercharger, it gets a smaller pulley, new headers, a new cooling system, a FiTech engine management system, and a bunch of other upgrades. The crew hasn’t put this Chevelle put on the dyno yet with all these upgrades, but they predict that it’s putting out close to 1000 horsepower!
Besides the new engine, the Chevelle gets loads of other high-performance parts. It still rides on the original chassis, but it has been stiffened to handle the power of the mighty Blueprint V8. The team has also swapped the suspension, brakes, and rear end with modern parts for the same reason. There is also a custom Borla exhaust which comes with a switch inside the cabin that allows it to go straight through the headers, producing a pretty rowdy note. But that’s no match to the incredible whine from the Magnussen supercharger.
This Chevelle sounds like a spaceship, even on idle. The Challenger Hellcat is famous for its supercharger whine, but that is nothing compared to the sound this Chevy makes. Unlike the Dodge, this Chevelle doesn’t get electronic assists, like stability control or ABS. So it also promises a more engaging drive. We hope the Restomods’ Sweepstakes winner for this RM22 build pitches it against the Hellcat in a drag race. It’ll be epic to see how the latter’s 6.2-liter V8, with its 807 horsepower in the Super Stock variant, does against this beast in the quarter mile.
