It’s no secret that Tom Cruise’s running style in movies has become a subject of humor and ridicule for many in the audience, including fellow industry A-lister Dwayne Johnson. While filming Rampage in 2018, Johnson took to social media to poke fun at Cruise’s running form and make it clear why he would never run like him.
The “Tom Cruise run,” as it has come to be known, has become increasingly famous and even part of Cruise’s on-screen persona. However, Johnson is not one to follow suit, explaining his unique style as “get me the f*ck outta here because there’s a genetically modified 50 TON BEAST that’s trying to eat me and all I wanted to do is just want to go home and have tequila and waffles.”
While trolling Cruise may have been fun for Johnson, it also highlights the camaraderie and inside jokes prevalent in the entertainment industry. Cruise has yet to comment on his running style or the jokes being made at his expense, but it seems he knows how to take a joke, given his continued success in Hollywood.
Rampage, the movie where Johnson made his comments, is an adaptation of an eponymous video game and starred big names like Naomie Harris and Malin Åckerman. Despite mixed reviews, the film managed to earn a decent collection at the box office, raking in $428 million worldwide. It is available for streaming on Apple TV+ and Hulu.
