James Gunn Unveils Truth Behind Henry Cavill and Amy Adams Replacement Rumors in Superman Reboot

James Gunn and DC Studios have caused anticipation among fans regarding the casting of the first film under the new DCU. While there are reports regarding the potential actors who can take the lead in Superman: Legacy, the studio has not confirmed anything yet. Henry Cavill, who was expected to reprise his role followed by his brief appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, announced his departure soon after the release of the 2022 film.

Although there are fans who are against the idea of seeing another actor as Superman, some DC fans are eagerly waiting to see who would don the cape after the Man of Steel star. The co-CEO recently took to Twitter to respond to the casting reports regarding Superman: Legacy.

James Gunn Reacts to Superman: Legacy Casting Reports

The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed several names who could potentially star in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. The reports claimed that the Pearl actor David Corenswet is the potential frontrunner to be the next Superman, and Nicholas Hoult is allegedly being looked on for the role of Lex Luthor.

James Gunn took to Twitter to respond to these rumors and refused to comment on the casting reports. “For all of you asking, I would never comment on who is or isn’t AUDITIONING for a role,” he said, claiming that sharing such news is the actor’s business.

The Suicide Squad director also shared updates about Superman: Legacy casting and said that only one person has been cast in the film so far. He tweeted,

“For now, only one person has been CAST in Superman: Legacy and it isn’t any of the regular players in the Superman world.”

But he did not share which actor or character has been cast in the film. While Gunn refused to comment on reports, he did not deny the claims. Earlier, he declined the casting rumor of The Kissing Booth actor Jacob Elordi as Superman, saying that no one had been cast in the film as he was still working on the script.

DC Studios is Gearing Up For Auditions

Recent reports have claimed that with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn is able to focus on his first DC project after taking over as co-CEO. According to Deadline, the audition process is currently underway, and the studio has started receiving audition tapes for the lead roles in Superman: Legacy.
