6 WWE stars who’ve featured in the Fast & Furious franchise

The Rock and Roman Reigns have worked in the same movie

WWE Superstars have often appeared as main characters or in cameo roles in various Hollywood movies. One such franchise that has been sprinkled with WWE Superstars is the Fast and Furious franchise.

Over the years, a handful of superstars (current and former) have been a part of the series. Interestingly, certain personality traits of the characters they played in the movies aligned with their in-ring characters in WWE.

Here are the six WWE Superstars who have worked with the Fast and Furious franchise.

#6. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson

The Great One was the first WWE Superstar to star in the series. In 2011, The Rock made his first appearance in Fast 5 where he played the role of Officer Luke Hobbs. His character had a recurring role in the following movies: Fast & Furious 6Furious 7The Fate of the Furious, and he has a cameo role in Fast X. He was a main character in the spin-off, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw.

Dwayne Johnson wasn’t a part of F9 due to a public falling out with the franchise’s most prominent main character, Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel.

In WWE, The Rock was an anti-hero who often did the right things but in his own way, and he was loved by the people. Similarly, his character in the Fast and Furious franchise started out as a government official who would bring down Dominic Toretto, but eventually sided with him and even helped him after realizing that Toretto had a strong reason behind each of his deeds.

Out of all the WWE Superstars who have worked with the series, The Brahma Bull’s appearance is the most prominent and impactful.

#5. John Cena

The Champ made his debut in F9, the 9th movie of the franchise. Interestingly, this is the same movie where The Rock doesn’t play Luke Hobbs.

John Cena plays the role of Jakob Toretto, the younger brother of Dominic.

In the movie, John Cena’s character is a highly-skilled thief who will cross any obstacle on his way to get his hands on what he wants. It’s quite similar to The Cenation Leader’s in-ring character where he doesn’t let an obstacle stand between himself and victory, and bounces back to the top even if he’s been knocked down a couple of times.

John Cena revived the role of Jakob Toretto in the 10th part of the series, Fast X.

#4. Roman Reigns

The Tribal Chief wasn’t part of any of the series’ main entries, but he was in Hobbs & Shaw, which was a spin-off dedicated to the characters Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw (played by Jason Statham).

He played the role of Luke Hobbs’ (The Rock) brother Mateo, and even performed the Samoan war dance or siva tau. It’s a sacred tradition of the Samoan culture and was done with cultural consultants and extreme sensitivity.

Just like Roman Reigns’ extreme belief in family and brotherhood, Mateo displays similar beliefs in the movie where he won’t turn his back on his brother, even in dangerous situations.

#3. Ronda Rousey

The Baddest Woman on the Planet made her debut in the franchise’s 7th movie, Fast and Furious 7. She played the role of Kara and was in an action-filled scene with Michelle Rodriguez (Letty).

Even though Ronda Rousey played a cameo in the movie, she executed certain signature WWE moves such as the Spear and the Superman Punch.

Her character was extremely similar to her in-ring character, i.e., both Kara and Ronda Rousey are vicious and willing to take down their rivals or opponents by hook or by crook.

#2. Vladimir Kozlov

The former WWE tag team champion didn’t play a prominent role in any of the Fast and Furious movies, but he did work as a stunt-man in the franchise.

He was one of the gunmen in the climax scene of The Fate of the Furious. He plays the role of one of the Russian soldiers whom The Rock and other members of the original cast have to fight off.

#1. WWE legend The Big Show

The World’s Largest Athlete didn’t play an on-screen role in the original Fast and Furious movies, but instead voiced a character in the animated Fast & Furious: Spy Racers on Netflix.

Big Show voiced the character Palindrome, who is the definition of a muscle man but is goofy as well. The character matches quite well with The Big Show as he was during his time with WWE.
