6 VAR referees fired after a racist scandal with Vinicius

The Royal Spanish Football Federation and the Referee Technical Committee have sacked six VAR referees following allegations of racist abuse against Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr, according to Marca.

Currently, the case of Vinicius in Real’s 0-1 loss to Valencia in La Liga over the weekend is attracting attention. In this match, the Brazilian star was racist by Valencia fans , calling him “monkey”. Vinicius was then shown a red card for slapping Hugo Duro, causing a dispute to erupt.

After the match, Vinicius took to social media to strongly condemn the unsportsmanlike actions of Valencia fans, accompanied by indifference from the La Liga organizers. However, it seems that the 22-year-old striker’s statements have received attention.

According to Marca, La Liga has fired 6 VAR referees, including Mr. Iglesias Villanueva – who was in charge of VAR management in the match between Valencia vs Real Madrid. Explaining the decision to fire the referees, Marca said that the images presented to the referee on the De Burgos Bengoechea field leading to Vinicus’ red card were inadequate.

“They couldn’t figure out why the report that was sent only mentioned the Brazilian’s slap in the face to Hugo Duro and not the rest of the incident,” Marca said.

Recently, FIFA president Gianni Infantino expressed sympathy for Vinicius’ anger, and expressed outrage at racism. He said: “I want to express my solidarity with Vinicius. There is no place for racism in football or society, and FIFA is completely on the side of players in cases like what happened.

When racist behavior occurs, you must first stop the match. The player must then leave the field of play. If racist practices continue, the match must be stopped. When the game resumes, if the racist behavior continues, the match must be abandoned and the team with racist fans must be disqualified.”
