“The Rock had no franchise to go back to”: Vin Diesel Welcomes Back Dwayne Johnson into Fast X, Fans Mega Troll The Brahma Bull

When push comes to shove, even someone as mighty as The Rock will surrender his ego for the big bucks.

Spoiler Alert! The following article contains spoilers for Fast X

After all the blazing disputes, tough love, and vows to renounce the Fast & Furious family, Dwayne Johnson made a surprising return to the billion-dollar action franchise. The former WWE icon, who publicly rejected Vin Diesel’s request to appear in Fast X and swore off any chances of the same, seems to have come back after all. And it looks like fans aren’t ready to let Johnson forget that anytime soon.

Louis Leterrier’s Fast X has brought back many ghosts from the family’s past, and joining Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty along with Gal Gadot’s Giselle, is Dwayne Johnson‘s Hobbs.

Back in December 2021, Johnson, 51, told CNN that though he had nothing but support for the cast and would “always root for the franchise to be successful,” fans should forget about him coming back for Fast X. Thanks to his very public feud with Vin Diesel, The Rock thus went on to make it crystal clear that the franchise had lost him for good. Apparently not though, because as it turns out, Luke Hobbs is very much a part of the latest action-adventure.

The mid-credit scenes of Fast X reveal Johnson’s brash and highly-skilled Agent Hobbs, as Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes threatens the federal agent with deadly retribution for killing his father, Herman Reyes, an incident that took place in Fast Five.

But while the Black Adam star’s co-stars, particularly, Diesel, seem to be thrilled following Hobbs’ revival in Fast X, fans on the other hand, are more derisive about The Rock’s comeback than pleased.

After his DCU debut failed to fare well at the box office and the studio’s co-CEOs scrapped the plans for a Black Adam sequel, Johnson’s future began to become bleaker. So, now that he has returned to the Fast & Furious franchise after strictly claiming to eschew the possibility of the same, people are hell-bent on reminding him how he went back on his word. Moreover, fans seem to believe that Johnson’s comeback to Fast X was inevitable because of his apparently waning career.

While Diesel, 55, is incredibly “excited” to have his fellow castmates, fans don’t seem as welcoming.

The former professional wrestler isn’t the only DC star to have returned to the Fast family; as previously mentioned, Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, also reappears in Fast X despite her character dying in 2013’s Fast & Furious 6.
