The moment a mouse was swallowed whole after coming face to face with a blue viper is captured in amazing photographs. The curious rodent was shown approaching the 27-inch snake and smelling it while seemingly oblivious to the danger.
Before completely swallowing the rodent, the ᴘᴏɪsᴏɴᴏᴜs predator opened its jaws wide and flashed its fangs in the direction of the rodent. Photographer Dzul Dzulfikri from Bekasi, Iɴᴅᴏɴᴇsɪᴀ, who saw the exceptional occasion in his friend’s backyard, took the wonderful pictures. Dzul’s friend’s pet blue pit viper receives mice once a week as a reward.
The little mouse and the 27-inch blue viper are seen brushing noses in the photograph before the snake unexpectedly extended its mouth and swallowed the mouse whole. The four-inch rodent was devoured by the blue pit viper in under five minutes.
There aren’t many blue snakes in the world and people find them fascinating because of their unique coloring. However, despite appearances, the blue pit viper is not as harmless as it looks. In actuality, it is a ᴘᴏɪsᴏɴᴏᴜs snake whose venom can seriously bleed both internally and externally.
Blue vipers can be found throughout Central and Northern South America, Sunda Islands of Iɴᴅᴏɴᴇsɪᴀ. Look carefully for this species of ᴠᴇɴᴏᴍᴏᴜs snake because it is difficult to recognize in its habitat due to the eyelash pits on the snake. If you do come across one, keep as far away from it as you can.
