As an Oscar’s ceremony that will be held under the cloud of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death approaches, it is hard not to think of other actors that passed too soon.
This picture, posted by The Academy, shows the late Heath Ledger pose with his fellow actors for a picture.
This 2005 snap shows Ledger with Anne Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Williams, who was at the time pregnant with their daughter.
The quartet were promoting their new film Brokeback Mountain, which went on to win Oscars in 2006 for Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score.
Sadly, less than two years later, Ledger died, winning a posthumous Oscar in 2009 for his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight.
