Robert Downey Jr. Speaks About His Marvel Co-Stars
On an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Robert Downey Jr. shifts from conversations about Marvel superhero movies to his time meeting the members of the Avengers – the actors he would go on to spend the subsequent decade with. When Joe Rogan asks how the actor got around to meeting his co-stars and building rapport with them, RDJ claims:
“My MO is always, let’s mind meld together, let’s get together, let’s work weekends, let’s spend time together bcause you can’t replace that familiarity, so you have to try to build it. And sometimes it happens very naturally, like I adore Chris Evans.
I can’t even tell you why. He’s a Boston guy, and technically, such a brilliant actor, but he also doesn’ take himself seriously. He’s flaky but he’s the first guy you would want to have your back is something went down. […] So sometimes, you just get lucky.”

RDJ’s experience with his Marvel co-stars has been one that has exceeded the flaws and limitations set by time and creativity. The diversity and range of the stories that these people came together to tell to billions across the world by standing in front of a simple green screen are more than a footnote in an industry dominated by such juggernauts as Martin Scorsese and James Cameron.
