At a campsite, a cheeky elephant was discovered attempting to sᴛᴇᴀʟ food. The 45-year-old photographer Willem Bakhuys Roozeboom captured the film of the elephant trying to enter a food truck by using his trunk.
But the car, which was parked at a campsite in Mana Pools, Zɪᴍʙᴀʙᴡᴇ, proved too safe for the would-be robber. According to the manager of the safari camp, elephants are drawn to the aroma of fruit and will do anything to get there.
Fortunately, the elephant soon became bored and was subsequently spotted eating on a leafy branch. Almost every day, according to Mr. Roozeboom, this specific elephant visits the campground and strolls around sniffing cars, tents, chairs, and their washing drying on the line.
He would be at ease as long as you gave him your space, didn’t make sudden moves and didn’t chase him away.
The entire time, the elephant was aware of his presence. Mr. Roozeboom gently went about avoiding his personal space while he looked at him but paid no attention to him, just his fruits and vegetables.
Iris Breeman, his girlfriend, locked the rear of their truck so the elephant couldn’t get inside and see what else they brought with them.
