That is quite surprising considering that they have been without Anthony Davis since right around Christmas when he went down with a stress injury in his right foot.
This isn’t the first time the team has lost Davis and many fans were resigned to the fact that he could be out for weeks, even months.
During that time, LA would be without his 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.
However, it sounds like his rehabilitation is going quite well and his return could be approaching.
Dave McMenamin is reporting that Davis will “begin the ramp-up process to work towards a return this week.”
In his reporting, McMenamin states that Davis will start doing aquatic pool workouts and running on altered-gravity treadmills this week as his foot continues to heal.
For the last few weeks, the big man has only been spot-shooting in the gym but now things are being taken to the next level.
AD On The Mend
The best news is that the Lakers believe that this ramp-up in rehabilitation may take only a couple of weeks and that the team could be “penciling” a possible return after that.
Does that mean that Davis will be back on the court right after the All-Star game?
Fans of the Lakers sure hope so.
Everyone is impressed by how well the Lakers have done without Davis – there were many people who were ready to throw in the towel when he went down last month.
Can they keep competitive in the next few weeks as Davis’ return approaches?
It won’t be easy because they will soon be facing off against the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, and more.
The rehabilitation process must be handled correctly but LA faithful are eager to see Davis back on the court as soon as possible.
