Bayern Munich have reportedly made a final decision over a transfer pursuit of Roberto Firmino, whose Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season.

Bayern Munich had seemingly been interested in signing one of Liverpool’s players on a free transfer in the summer, but this no longer appears to be the case.

It was reported recently (via Media Foot) that Bayern were interested in bringing Roberto Firmino back to the Bundesliga, where he played with Hoffenheim before his move to Liverpool in the summer of 2015.

Firmino, who is 31, still has a lot to give at the highest level and so Bayern Munich’s reported interest made sense.

However, according to Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl, this is no longer the case. With the club closing in on the signing of Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig, the focus is now on retaining Lucas Hernandez and offering the defender an extension. A move for Firmino is now out of the club’s plans.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has spoken of his desire to keep Firmino at the club beyond 2023, saying: “We are in talks with Bobby. He knows my points, I definitely want him to stay.”

Firmino’s contract expires at the end of the season, but talks over an extension have gone quiet aside from Klopp’s comments.
