Manchester United appear set to continue their busy January transfer window with a couple of moves having already been completed.
The Red Devils have sealed the services of Jack Butland on a loan deal until the end of the campaign, whilst they have also agreed to take Dutch striker Wout Weghorst to Old Trafford for the next few months. It remains to be seen if any more arrivals follow the pair in becoming Red Devils.
With that being said, here are the latest rumours coming out of Old Trafford over the last 24 hours with the window having now been open for two weeks.
Newcastle make McTominay decision
Newcastle United have reportedly made a decision not to pursue a loan deal for United midfielder Scott McTominay. The Scot has been linked with a move to St James’ Park this January with the Magpies keen to bolster their options in the centre of the park as they continue their push for a Champions League place.
When asked if his side had lodged an offer for McTominay, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe quickly rejected those claims out of hand. As quoted by the Manchester Evening News, he said: “No, that’s not true [bidding for McTominay]. The loan market is always a big option for us. But I think getting the right player on loan is very difficult.”
The 26-year-old has made 21 appearances for the Red Devils this season but just under half of those outings have been starts.

Elanga future depends on Depay
Man Utd’s approach to Anthony Elanga’s short-term Old Trafford future appears to depend on a move for a replacement forward – most likely former Red Devil Memphis Depay. United have been linked with a move for the Dutchman this window alongside Arsenal.
According to talkSPORT, should the Barcelona star arrive at Old Trafford in January, that could lead to Anthony Elanga leaving the club on-loan. The young Swede has been linked with making a loan switch to Premier League rivals Everton.
Elanga has seen opportunities with United dwindle this season having made just seven starts in all competitions under Erik ten Hag.

Wan-Bissaka U-turn performed amid transfer interest
Whilst Elanga could depart, one member of the current squad could be set to stay despite having previously seemed like he has no future. Right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been linked with moves to both Wolves and Crystal Palace.
However, having earned a spot back in the side over recent weeks, he now appears set to stay. As per MailPlus, Wan-Bissaka is expected to stay with the club after Ten Hag was left impressed with his performances.
The Dutchman now believes he has a genuine alternative to the injured Diogo Dalot.
