A rare white bison has been spotted in Missouri’s Ozark Mountains, and quickly has taken the internet by storm.
The two-year-old calf has been named Takoda, a Sioux word meaning “friend to everyone.”
A white bison is extremely rare, though some conservationists say sightings like this are becoming more common thanks to crossbreeding efforts, as ranchers work to bring back the species that was reduced to only a few hundred individuals a hundred years ago.
