LeBron James is on track to overtake Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s top scorer, and in the course of winning a title and accomplishing the accomplishment, he’s also set and broken some records.
The forward is enjoying a decorated career and is known for his supreme skills, athleticism, and astute knowledge of the game, and while at it, he’s been a consistent force for any of the teams he’s played in the last two decades.
Such has been the 38-year-old’s dominance in the 20 seasons he’s played in the league, James is in the Top 10 players in three of the five categories — Scoring, Assists, and Steals.
To start with, James is second on the list of all-time scorers with 38,299 points, 88 behind Kareem’s 38,387 points. Per ESPN, he’s fourth in the most assists with 10,338 below John Stockton (15,806), Jason Kidd (12,091), and Chris Paul (11,246). He’s ninth in steals with 2,176.

James moved to fourth place for most assists in the NBA during the Los Angeles Lakers game against the New York Knicks.
The Numbers Just Make A Solid Case For LeBron James As The GOAT
When it comes to talking about greatness, James’ numbers make a solid case for him. He’s perennially compared to Michael Jordan, and while that’s a discussion that can be tabled for later, his achievements over the year have been nothing short of stellar.
From a scoring standpoint, James has a 40+ performance against every team in the NBA, and that gives an idea of the force that he has been over the years. His playoff CV is equally tremendous as he’s made 10 Finals appearances and has won four of them, twice with the Miami Heat, once with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers.
It’s safe to call James one of the greatest ever to play the sport. At 38, he’s defied time, and conventional wisdom and the proof is in the pudding. This season sees him average 30.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 7.1 assists.
However, it’s unfortunate that ‘The King’s scintillating run hasn’t put the Lakers in a commanding position this season. They are placed 13th in the West and will make a desperate playoff push with 30 games left in the regular stretch.
