Ronald Araujo has told his Barcelona bosses he would sign club legend Lionel Messi and Rodrigo Bentancur if he were in their shoes.
Messi left the club to join Paris Saint Germain in 2021 but will be out of contract in the summer. The French giants are keen to extend his deal but the Argentine star is yet to sign.
He scored a colossal 672 goals in his time at the Nou Camp and recently crowned an impressive trophy cabinet by leading Argentina to World Cup victory in Qatar.
Barca defender Araujo feels Messi should be brought back to the club. When asked by Jijantes which players he would bring to the club, the 23-year-old replied: ‘I would sign [Rodrigo] Bentancur and Messi.
‘Obviously [Messi] is a player that everyone wants in the team, [his return] would be something tremendous, something special, I don’t know how things will turn out but of course we would love it.’

As well as being an international teammate of Araujo’s with Uruguay, Bentancur has been among Tottenham’s best players this season, scoring five goals in 18 league games from midfield.
He opened the scoring in their 4-1 loss to Leicester at the weekend, but picked up an ACL injury that is expected to rule him out for the rest of the season.
It comes at a tough time for Spurs, as they prepare for this week’s Champions League knockout clash ahead of two tricky London derbies against West Ham and Chelsea.
They did recently beat Manchester City in an impressive 1-0 win, but Saturday’s loss has reignited concerns over Antionio Conte’s side’s defending.
Tottenham will next be in action when they face a faltering AC Milan side on Tuesday.
He also proposed signing his Uruguay teammate Rodrigo Bentancur, who recently picked up a season-ending ACL rupture
