Chelsea player who is pushing for Kai Havertz’ place trains at Cobham
Chelsea are back in Premier League action tomorrow afternoon facing league strugglers Southampton.
The squad are back from Germany after losing 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, and last night saw the players who didn’t feature train at Cobham.
One of those was David Datro Fofana, who for me is pushing Kai Havertz for his place in the starting Xl and deserves some real minutes now. Havertz has been poor for some time and is not the answer leading the line. Fofana deserves a shot, and I hope it comes on Saturday.
Kepa Arrizabalaga and Cesar Azpilicueta react to what old Chelsea teammate did in Europe last night
Chelsea players Kepa Arrizabalaga and Cesar Azpilicueta have taken to Instagram to send their admiration to former teammate Marcos Alonso.
The Spaniard opened the scoring last night in the pulsating Europa League tie against Manchester United, which finished 2-2 at the Nou Camp.
Despite featuring in a centre-back role he has been criticised for playing in the past, he turned in an assured performance against an in-form attack.
Winger Raphinha was also on target, with him showing last night exactly what he can do in the big occasion.
This may have annoyed some Chelsea fans who were hoping to see a poor performance from the Brazilian, given the fact he rejected a move to Chelsea last summer.
It would be tough given the circumstances and his tenure at Stamford Bridge to not be happy for Alonso though.
The goal was clearly an emotional moment for the former Blue, with it coming not long after his father had passed away.

This led to an emotional Instagram post after the game, where he dedicated his goal and performance to him.
The comments were full of love for Alonso, with his fellow Spaniards Kepa and Azpilicueta leading the way in terms of tributes.
Alonso’s time at Stamford Bridge was full of attacking excellence, a trait the Blues have sorely missed from the full-back position this season.
Ben Chilwell and Reece James have been injured for more of the season than not, leaving Graham Potter scrambling to find appropriate reinforcements.
He has struggled to do this however, with Marc Cucurella’s form being something that has particularly suffered in recent months.
The 24-year-old has been booed on and off the pitch in recent weeks, a classless gesture from supporters who travel to the games.
