Manchester City squandered their slender lead in the Premier League following their draw at Nottingham Forest this weekend.
Vieira watches on during Palace’s game at Brentford over the weekend
Crystal Palace manager and former Manchester City and Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira believes that the Premier League title is the Gunners’ to lose.
Last Wednesday, City managed to overtake Arsenal thanks to a 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium. However, a draw at Nottingham Forest at the weekend saw the Blues drop back down to second.
Pep Guardiola’s team are now two points adrift of Mikel Arteta’s men who also have a game in hand. When asked by William Hill for his prediction on the title race, Vieira appeared adamant that Arsenal are in the driving seat.
He explained: “I think the Premier League title is Arsenal’s to lose, to be honest with you. I think Arsenal did really well against Aston Villa on Saturday, to bounce back with that 4-2 win at Villa Park.
“They are just in a really good place at the moment, with a lot of confidence. But I still believe Manchester City will chase Arsenal until the very last day of the Premier League season. But I think it’s Arsenal’s title to lose.”
Arsenal still have to travel to the Etihad Stadium before the end of the campaign and City will take heart from the fact that they have managed to beat the league leaders twice already. Guardiola and co will be able to forget about the title race this midweek as focus shifts towards the Champions League.
The Blues travel to RB Leipzig on Wednesday in the first leg of their round of 16 clash. Marco Rose’s Bundesliga side are currently fifth over in Germany.
