This elephant must have believed he was on a trunk road since he moved between vehicles, causing a backup of traffic.
As he moved along the lengthy road in Tʜᴀɪʟᴀɴᴅ’s Khao Yai National Park, the male Asian elephant caused traffic to be delayed for around an hour.
The bull was moving in the direction of food, having learned the path from his mother when he was a calf. The enormous elephant would frequently stray off the road to eat some of the lush flora there without giving the people in the automobiles any cause for concern.
The elephant was by himself, according to 30-year-old Suphanburi, Tʜᴀɪʟᴀɴᴅ, photographer Chalit Saphaphak. He blocked traffic for an hour while he was on the road. Nobody dared attempt to move him off the road during this time. The tourists simply allowed him to wander where he pleased on his own.
The car or anyone inside didn’t elicit a response from the elephant. For other elephants, though, it does depend on the circumstances. An elephant can and will step on the car if a visitor ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴛens or scares them.
Elephants are known to travel on the road leading into the National Park when they are starving because it was a well-traveled path before the tarmac was laid.
