The battle of submission grapplers and strikers is the ideal matchup inside the Octagon.
While the fighters with particular skill sets differ in the matchups, the flashy character of striking takes a central stage. Further, the submission skills, due to the lack of glittering skills, sometimes don’t appeal to the fans on TV. However, many notable grapplers such as Islam Makhachev have reigned supreme in their respective divisions, humbling other challengers. Similarly, in a viral clip that made rounds on the internet, a BJJ black belt holder in a sheer display of strength snapped the 3 baseball bats in half.
Notably, Terrie Bourgeois, an MMA practitioner, took to his Instagram handle and originally posted the video as he took the challenge of snapping the baseball bats as he pinned the baseball in a leg lock position. Furthermore, the American Combat Club associate cracked the bats in half after a grueling session.
The BJJ ace snaps the baseball bats in half
Markedly, in the caption, the BJJ ace mentioned that Tex Johnson started the trend, and he only followed the suit.
In addition, he admitted he remained confident about doing 4. Thus, he wrote, “Im confident I can do four, but this is probably the last time I do this party trick”
However, the clip recently went viral, which was originally posted in June 2022.
How did the fans react to the terrifying skill?
While some fans pointed out the super-strength of the athletes, others draw a parallel with the viewers on TV watching MMA.
One user wrote, “Nightmare is that one Dude getting an ankle lock and Early stoppage I’m glad I’ve never seen it in ufc fight …..!!!”
A comment read, “Wow imagine that’s your leg”
Someone declared, “Now that’s a useful skill. For him. Not for us!”
A fan stated, “People saying it’s not useful haven’t snapped someone’s leg or arm breaking into there house and it shows”
Another user said, “I’m impressed but I’d be more impressed if he didn’t snap them at their thinnest part. Lol “
Someone responded, “Where’d he get them bats from WWE locker room or under the WWE ring”
Another fan replied, “This for all those tough guys who scream “I’d never tap” during UFC fights lmao”
A comment read, “I couldn’t do that swingin a bat at a tree hard as I could bro has super strength”
Lastly, a user announced, “People don’t understand the level of training you need to even pull this off. He’s not showing simply strength, he’s showing the results of his discipline. “
