Life isn’t all fun and games as a high-profile celebrity living in California.
During an interview with an Australian radio station on Wednesday, Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson both admitted to being extorted for money in Beverly Hills.
Speaking to Nova’s Smallzy’s Surgery, the actresses, who are currently promoting their new movie The Hustle, revealed they were each targeted in isolated incidents.

After being asked if they’d ever been ‘hustled’ in real life, Rebel, 39, first revealed she had been, by purchasing a fake ‘diet pill’ she was once approached with.
Rebel claimed the seller boasted the pill would help her ‘lose weight really quickly’, reflecting that she must have been ‘very vulnerable’ to purchase it at the time.
‘Then I worked out it was a scam and I had to get the police involved to get my money back,’ Rebel continued. ‘But I actually felt really sad that I had been duped by somebody, who would lie to my face?!’

Anne, 36, then offered up her own experience of being ‘hustled’ out of money.
After once visiting a skin aesthetician she had been recommended and leaving with lots of ‘expensive’ products, she claimed the company then continued charging her.
‘I checked my credit card receipts at the end of each month and I noticed she’s been charging me when I didn’t go,’ admitted Anne.
Despite first believing the fraudulent activity was ‘an oversight’, she admitted to then discovering the business was ‘bogus’, and they were ‘scamming a lot of people’.
Anne joked: ‘Moral of the story, keep your wits about you in Beverly Hills!’

‘It was an elaborate con!’: Rebel then claimed a man tried to extort several thousands of dollars from her after she apparently ‘crashed into his Porsche’ – despite being away at the time
Rebel then revealed another story, where she claimed a man tried to extort several thousands of dollars from her after she apparently ‘crashed into his Porsche’.
‘I wasn’t even in the country [at the time],’ joked Rebel, explaining how she was away when the alleged incident was said to have occurred.
She continued: ‘And then some man came around to the house… pretending to be from the court with a pretend court summons, saying they wanted $3,000 dollars or else. It was an elaborate con! I was like, ‘Um no I wasn’t even in the country, bye!”
Anne responded: ‘I won’t go into the details but I have a West Hollywood person throwing themselves into my car story, but we don’t have to go into it!’
