Katy Perry got booed after criticizing Nutsa over her use of glitter on Monday’s episode of American Idol that showed the final Top 26 performers singing in Hawaii.
The 38-year-old judge suggested that Nutsa, 26, of Tbilisi, Georgia, lay off the sparkles after she performed Paris (Ooh La La) by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals in front of a live audience at Disney’s Aulani resort and spa in Kapolei, Hawaii.
‘Nutsa every time you take the stage it’s like you glitter bomb the stage,’ Katy told the contestant. ‘Listen, one thing that I would like to see from you is not one piece of glitter the next time. I know that is going to be hard.’
Some of the crowd booed and turned their thumbs down.
‘Katy got booed!’ said judge Luke Bryan, 46 after he and Lionel Richie, 73, stood up in shock.

‘First time in six seasons,’ Katy said. ‘What I’m saying is that I’d like you to flip the script. I think we want to be pulled in by our hearts, too. I’d love to see that and America might too.’
Nutsa was one of the remaining 13 members of the Top 26 who performed after the first 13 performed on Sunday’s episode.
Noah Cyrus, 23, served as the mentor for the 13 singers on Monday’s show.
Nutsa was encouraged by Noah to concentrate on her singing and not her dancing and stage showmanship. Nutsa, however, didn’t seem to follow any of her pointers and energetically danced and moved across the stage during her routine and finished her performance with a back bend.
‘At one point, I was thinking you were either going to run out of energy or run out of notes,’ Lionel said. ‘That was so wonderful to watch and congratulations.’
The show opened with Platinum ticket winner Elijah McCormick, 21, of Raeford, North Carolina. He sang the song Good Vibes by Chris Janson, which he said was inspired after he had to relearn to walk and talk after his tragic accident.
‘I think you could win this entire thing,’ Noah said
‘That was a great performance that you pulled off,’ Lionel said.
