While travel restrictions mean many of us are still unable to jet off for a summer holiday, the same is not true for celebrities and society beauties who have been soaking up the sun in Italy.
Kate Moss, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have all been spotted taking in the sights in recent weeks, while Princess Diana‘s model niece Lady Kitty Spencer met up with her family in Milan.
Over the weekend Chrissy Tiegen and John Legend were snapped strolling through the picturesque streets of Florence, while Kim Kardashian shared photos of her personal photoshoot at Rome’s Trevi Fountain.
Elsewhere singer Ciara and husband Russell Wilson enjoyed a shopping spree in Venice.
Although Italy remains on the UK’s amber list – and requires UK arrivals to self-isolate for five days – it has relatively relaxed entry requirements for travellers from the US and has very few restrictions in place, making it an attractive holiday destination.
US citizens can obtain a ‘Green Pass’ allowing them to enter Italy without having to self-isolate or quarantine upon arrival and undergo testing after quarantine.

Strict rules for UK visitors arriving in Italy…
On return to England travellers must:
… but things are much more relaxed for US arrivals
To obtain a Green Pass a US citizen must either be fully vaccinated, have recovered from Covid-19 within six months of travelling or be able to show proof of a negative Covid-19 test result taken within 48 hours of departure.
It means American stars can make the most of their time away, without any need for hotel quarantine.
Rules are much stricter from travellers from the UK, which is why many England fans struggled to travel for the Euro 2020 quarter-final over the weekend.
Travellers who have been in the UK in the last 14 days must present a negative Covid test taken within 48 hours and self-isolate for five days on arrival. An additional test must be taken at the end of this self-isolation period.
However the prospect of quarantine is no doubt easier to stomach for wealthier celebs who can splash out on plush hotels where they can hunker down for five days without going stir-crazy.

They also don’t need to worry about time off work, making it far easy to go and come back as they please.
Once given the green light for entry to Italy, holidaymakers can enjoy relative freedom, with the entire country currently classified as a ‘white zone’, which denotes the lowest levels of restrictions.
In white zones all activities are open, including arcades, casinos, amusement parks, community and nightclubs, as well as restaurants, cafes and tourist attractions.
Masks must be worn indoors and outdoors only when social distancing of 1m is not possible.
The country was badly hit at the start of the coronavirus crisis and has recorded a total of 128,000 deaths. In the last week it has recorded an average of 750 new cases a day.
As of yesterday, 57.6 per cent of the population had received one dose of the vaccination and 33.3 per cent are fully vaccinated.
