And as always, he delivered a non-skippable album and a cinematic music video. “Haegeum” truly is a phenomenal continuation of the Agust D storyline.
Speaking of cinematic… The “Haegeum” MV is filled with details and references to iconic films, past music videos, and more. Check out all the details you might have missed the first time watching the MV…
1. Reference to the Joker
The shot at the end of Suga with his head out the car’s window appears to be inspired by the Joker in The Dark Knight film, which is highly likely as Suga also uses the character’s famous quote, “Why so serious?” in his 2020 song “People.”

The shot is also similar to one in Agust D’s “Daechwita” MV.
2. Parallels to the “Daechwita” MV3. Parallels to Scarface, specifically Tony Montana

Suga in the bathtub references Tony Montana in the film Scarface. While Montana dies in the tub, Suga survives and kills the other version of himself.

4. The symbolism of the police inclusion5. The chopsticks
the villain agust d being seen freely walking out of a police station and the police saluting him on the way out… it looks like him calling out corruption and showing how the rich controls the law pic.twitter.com/BMSohHAY1x

Suga used the same chopsticks to both kill and eat.

The chopsticks being red was also symbolic.
Not to mention the irony of him wearing jade beads all at the same time.
6. Suga is a tangerine thief.
He stole his favorite fruit.
he stole… tangerines? 😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/E60PAg0Lpr

7. The fish
If you thought it was strange that Suga laughed at the fish, it was symbolic of his realizing that he is a lot like it. Just like a fish in a bowl, he has no privacy.
i love the symbolism in this so much, the whole idiom “live in a fishbowl”, Here hes like laughing at himself he realizes the fish is living the same way he is. He cant escape being observed, so he sits observing himself pic.twitter.com/2oDv7XU4Al

8. Suga is the king and the boss.
In “Daechwita,” Suga raps, “I’m the king. I’m the boss.” Now, both are killed, making him both.
